A life just as ordinary

Just like you, but different

Herevana – #203 – Wilderness Rolling Meadows

Here we have a Wilderness Brewing Wilderness Rolling Meadows. IT’s be rare for a Wilderness beer not to be really enjoyable, and so a BA peach apricot affair certainly rang all the bells and called out to be brought. 3 year Barrel Aged with peach, nectarine and apricots.

Wilderness Brewing of course make the Wilderness Rolling Meadows and they do that in Christchurch, Canterbury, 🇳🇿 New Zealand this one is a Saison / Farmhouse – Flavored and is of 6.3% ABV, this 375ml bottle is 1.89 standard drinks in NZ.

I’ve managed to platter up myself some treats whilst I enjoy some football on the TV, but there is a BBQ to cook and so I need to show restraint and patience. Something I’m not famous for.

Outstanding aroma on opening this, a full fruit bowl of sweetness. and a pour the is lovely orange brightness with en effort of a head.

In the glass it settles into a familiar mustiness, but retains that wonderful fruit bouquet.

A lovely fullness in the mouth for flavour this, with a tall tartness holding it up, a very enjoyable sip of beer. But it could be richer and stronger for all that aroma, and it doesn’t play well to that gorgeous colour that promises much.

All of which is a bit churlish, because this, as it warms a bit and the cold edge is taken off. as expected it a rather nice and very enjoyable beer that I’m really having a good old time with.

The Pdubyah-o-meter rates this as a soft 8 on the arbitrary scale. It really bursts forth with a strong set of aroma and wonderfull looks, I would have enjoyed this much more if it’s been slightly deeper and richer for all those additions

Music Half the at the football and it’s time for a short bit to pause for the new album from “The The”

Herevana beers are those I drink at home, I’m not at some beer festival, like, for instance, Beervana, but am just in my kitchen, usually, dining room table, sometimes, or outside, occasionally, where I can take an average picture and write in real time about the beer that I’ve invested in, both in a monetary and emotional way.

Brewers Notes

Saison / Farmhouse – Flavored

The Flavored Saison, or Flavored Farmhouse Ale, is a refreshing, highly-attenuated, moderately-bitter, moderate-strength Belgian ale with a very dry finish with a clear flavoring element. Typically highly carbonated, and using non-barley cereal grains and optional spices for complexity, as complements the expressive yeast character that is fruity, spicy, and not overly phenolic. It features an harmonious marriage of the additive and beer, but still recognizable as a beer. The additive character should be evident but in balance with the beer. (For example: fruits, spices, herbs, vegetables, coffee, honey, chocolate, maple sirup, chilies, nuts, vanilla, liquor – BUT not including Smoked malt, barrel-aging or a Sour element resulting from the brewing process).
