A life just as ordinary

Just like you, but different

Herevana – Omer Vander Ghinste Brasserie – LeFort Tripel

In what has become a family tragedy the hand-blown wonky glass that I was s fond of, and love, is no longer with us. Dropped, shattered and swept away, but at least it lived its best life, bringing joy. Moving on it’s “Brewery with the longest name” competition time, and I have a beer from Brouwerij Omer Vander Ghinste (Bockor) - the Omer Vander Ghinste Brasserie LeFort Tripel

The Brouwerij Omer Vander Ghinste (Bockor) -  Omer Vander Ghinste Brasserie LeFort Tripel is made in 🇧🇪 Bellegem, West Flanders, Belgium, as a Tripel of 8.8% and 20 IBU.

Without the Wonky glass I had to go to plan B. Another new Beer from other new to me Brewery, those lovely people at Liquorland Forrest Hill know their stuff.

A mighty fine looking beer on the pour with the lovely persistent white fully head. A full array of the familiar banana aromas too.

That is quite delightful , a little sharp stab, then a lovely full wash of the beer, complete with the layers of the banana, and the lime, with a lovely lingering note at the back. At the afternoon on what has been quite a hot day this is rather splendid and fully enjoyable.

There’s a simple pleasure in a good beer, and this expression of a Tripel is ok by me, this really does tick all the expectation boxes and is a beer that you want to stop and savour and enjoy for each sup, being careful not to gulp of quaff.

I’m enjoying this on its own, apparently I have had ‘too may’ snacks, whatever that number is, but that too is ok, because this is enough as it is.

The Pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 9 on the arbitrary number scale. I lovely balanced and measured beer that delivers as it said on the label, a lovely flavoured full body and enjoyable beer, There’s not a good reason that I shouldn’t have another.

Music: To make up for a few things I have an original vinyl version of HARVEST from Neil Young. Sadly is’t a lot of pop and crackle, been well played by the owner (its is a loaner) It’s not on the Spotify as he’s not a fan of the streaming media. but you can listen/watch on the Youtube

You might have to watch on Youtube, it can be like that.

Herevana beers are those I drink at home, I’m not at some beer festival, like, for instance, Beervana, but am just in my kitchen, usually, dining room table, sometimes, or outside, occasionally, where I can take an average picture and write in real time about the beer that I’ve invested in, both in a monetary and emotional way.

Philip himself.

Tripel LeFort is a golden blonde beer of 8.8% ABV and sets itself apart through its crisp, fruity aroma and beautifully rounded full flavour. The top-fermenting yeast used for TripelLeFort results in a beer with vanilla-clove aromas as well as a fruity taste of bananas and red apples. Pleasant hints of citrus, lime and roses make this into a balanced beer that is intriguingly complex at the same time. Brasserie LeFort was a prosperous brewery built in Kortrijk on the city’s old fortifications by Felix Verscheure in 1854. The brewery was well known for its famous strong ales. When Felix Verscheure died in 1911, his grand-daughter Marguerite, who was married to Omer Vander Ghinste, inherited the brewery. Soon after, Marguerite incorporated the brewery Omer Vander Ghinste. Contains barley malt, wheat.

Brewers Notes

Tripel

The Belgian Tripel, is a deep yellow to deep gold colored, somewhat spicy, dry, strong Belgian ale with a pleasant rounded malt flavor and firm bitterness. Quite aromatic, with spicy, fruity, and light alcohol notes combining with the supportive clean malt character to produce a surprisingly drinkable beverage considering the high alcohol level. May resemble a Belgian Golden Strong Ale but slightly darker and somewhat fuller-bodied, with more emphasis on phenolics and less on esters. Usually has a more rounded malt flavor but should never be sweet.
