A life just as ordinary

Just like you, but different

Herevana – Brouwerij Huyghe – Delirium Argentum

Here we have a beer from Brouwerij Huyghe – the Delirium Argentum, they make it in 🇧🇪 Melle, East Flanders, Belgium and this one, it’s and IPA – Belgian / Saison with a 7.0% ABV and  49 IBU things

I made a trip to my local Liquorland where I got sidetracked in the Belgian beer shelves. In general I like the beers from Belgium, but usually would drink locally, so this is both a bit off track and also a bit of a treat. Whilst I mention treats Iforgot to mention that we have a rather splendid Blue Cheese that is making itself know with a lovely pungent aroma.

The return of the wonky glass! And a lively pour of beer that nearly escaped to the table, but I was quick. A lovely golden pour with that cloudy airy head.

Lovely Esters on the nose and I’m not kidding when I say a full explosion of such gorgeous fluffy billowy Belgian style beer yeastiness. It is immense.

I’m instantly reminded why I am such a fan of the Belgian yeast and the styles it generates, I had a seriously good Triple the other day, made locally in the Coromandel that was really exemplary, and may be why I veered towards these today.

A super nice beer, that might have just a tad too much carbonation if you were being picky, but is completely rescued as it is such a nice and really enjoyable beer.

What I find really nice is the lovely happiness that is present but isn’t all the beer, which lets the hops and the yeast do their own thing but combine to bring a bit of a party to the glass and taste buds.

The Pdubyah-o-meter rates this as a 9 on the arbitrary number scale. A brilliant reminder of the magnificence of the style, this would be a Belgian IPA, a hoppy Saison, So like this that I might have to get another on the next visit, it really is a nice break and change from the churn that you can find yourself in with normal IPA’s (of which I have some later)

Music: Spotify decided for me this afternoon – take your pick from this

Herevana beers are those I drink at home, I’m not at some beer festival, like, for instance, Beervana, but am just in my kitchen, usually, dining room table, sometimes, or outside, occasionally, where I can take an average picture and write in real time about the beer that I’ve invested in, both in a monetary and emotional way.

Philip himself.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Delirium Tremens, the beer masters of Brewery Huyghe have developed a special limited edition of the beer, which will only be available for a very short period in time. We already have a unique recipe, but we are still missing a unique label. Limited edition . IPA with 49 EBU. American hop with dry-hopping. Malted barley and wheat malt.

Colour and appearance: red amber, very dense fine white head.
Fragrance: spicy, citrus, grapefruit, a hint of caramel in the nose.
Flavour: full-bodied, intense and a touch of caramel. Together with the spicy, citrus-like bitterness, they give this beer a complex and very pleasant fresh, full and bitter aftertaste.
History: specialty beer created to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Delirium Tremens.

Brewers Notes

IPA – Belgian / Saison

The Belgian India Pale Ale (IPA) is a light golden to amber colored IPA with the fruitiness and spiciness derived from the use of Belgian yeast. The examples from Belgium tend to be lighter in color and more attenuated, similar to a tripel that has been brewed with more hops. This beer has a more complex flavor profile and may be higher in alcohol than a typical IPA. A cross between an American IPA / Imperial IPA with a Belgian Golden Strong Ale or Tripel. This style is may be spicier, stronger, drier and more fruity than an American IPA. “Imperial” and “Session” variants are generally are closer-related to the base substyle and should be listed with them. This style also includes Saison India Pale Ale (IPA).
