Breed in Collaboration with Cell Division I’m having Peckham’s Eclipse – a Graff- sort of a cider beer, a hopped cider, oh you get it.
Peckham’s in collaboration with Cell Division make the Peckham’s Eclipse, and that was done in Upper Moutere, Tasman, 🇳🇿 New Zealand this is an Apple Cider – Hopped / Malted / Graf with an ABV of 7.5% – this is 1.95 standard drinks
Definitely an apple cider to the aroma.
Pour is a murky brown orange and there is a luxurious head sitting on top, one again I marvel at how pretty a picture it looks in the glass.
The aroma in the glass, that’s a musty musky cider apple.
Well what I notice is that this finished with un unexpected dryness. What else I noticed is that this isn’t at all tart, and it isn’t sweet either, it’s an apple beer.
The Pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 8 on the arbitrary number scale. Neither Sweet nor Tart this has the full musty aroma of cider done well. It looks lovely too. But whilst all that is lovely and enjoyable you’d struggle to pick that this was made with the addition of hops. But what a ride!

Herevana beers are those I drink at home, I’m not at some beer festival, like, for instance, Beervana, but am just in my kitchen, usually, dining room table, sometimes, or outside, occasionally, where I can take an average picture and write in real time about the beer that I’ve invested in, both in a monetary and emotional way.
Philip himself.
The evening before brew day we witnessed the rare conjunction of two incredible celestial events – a blood supermoon and a lunar eclipse. We took this as a favourable omen for our own delicious conjunction of a dark Belgian ale and Dabinett cider apple juice. This graff was fermented with an Abbey ale yeast and matured in oak. The result is a smooth and complex amalgamation of ale and cider. Think Belgian toffee apples, fruity esters, honey, subtle chocolate and a touch of the monastic!
Brewers Notes
An Hopped Apple Cider is an alcoholic beverage obtained from cider to which any Hop must be added. A Graf, also known as Malted Cider, is an hybrid beverage between a Cider and a Beer, generally from mixing a majority apple juice with a small batch of ale wort brewed and blended in prior to a fermentation that’s conducted by a clean ale yeast.
