Just like you, but different
A triple header – Original film night.
For no reason other than I have memories of enjoying these films from al on time ago I decided to sit and have a marathon effort.
What a brilliant decision it was, and I don’t have many let’s be honest.
Vanishing Point. A film that develops the backstory of the protagonist as the film develops, unpeels it, and shows the disintegration of a man who’s lost a lot. The car a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Magnum. Supercharger. Mad then, probably mad now.
Duel. A short cast list, you don’t get to see a face for the first 5 or so minutes, it’s a bumper mounted camera. Steven Spielberg a director, I didn’t know that, I do now. Joe Average drives like he has Miss Daisy in the rear, but finds a slower truck to overtake, just, and then it goes wrong. Some magnificent work in this, the faceless driver, the other bystanders, and of course the finale. A must of a movie.
Two Lane Blacktop. Another movie with a car, a Chevrolet 150 two-door sedan. Wandering driver and mechanic making dollars from racing. Minimal dialogue between the actors, none of which have names, a tour though some of Americana. Ends in a classic what happens next fashion.
Such a good way to spend not many hours.
