A life just as ordinary

Just like you, but different

Beer – #1022 – Opperbacco – TriplIPA

Opperbacco TriplIPA. Beer from Italy, and a really unusual bottle shape too, mostly why I brought it. That an the unpronounceable name, a new cap for the bottle jar (I must share that one day).

blonde, drinkable, bitter

TriplIPA is presented in a 330ml of a 7.8% ABV, being 254 calories  and this has 55 IBU things, this is around 2.03 standard drink units in NZ

This is a 330ml bottle of beer, Brewed as an IPA,  by Opperbacco  who are in Notaresco, Italy

The name TriplIPA comes from the union of the styles it inspires: the “triple” style, from whichit takes the malts and the yeast, and the “IPA” style from which it takes the hopping, made withSimcoe, Columbus, Saaz and Amarillo (also in dry hopping). The result is a blonde, drinkable, bitter beer (56 IBU), which plays with the thousand nuances of the hops used.

Prodotta con lievito belga e luppoli americani in bollitura e dry hopping.

Produced with Belgian yeast and American hops in boiling and dry hopping.

So, What could possibly go wrong?

Very much a Belgian yeast aroma on opening, I like that already.

Love that bottle with the long neck and stubby body. Oh for a long neck.

The pour is a hazy but bright orange with a really large white fluff of head, which masks everything but an orange citrus note from the beer in the glass.

This is a lovely take on the IPA with Belgian yeast, with a showcase of that familiar bubblegum/ citrus taste over an underling bitterness that seem to work really nicely together.

Could of course do with more hops bitterness to make it outstanding but I’d have no problems with a few of these .

The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 8 of its things from the thing. This is a nice beer in an unfashionable style that has looks, aroma, and taste that appeal to me.

The double dip review

  • Where did I get it? FWDC in Auckland
  • Am I enjoying it? Yes, it’s nice to go back to a beer style that’s not so common at the moment.
  • Would I have another? Yes, for me this is a best of two worlds beer.
  • Would I share with a friend on a porch and set the world to rights? Because it’s not fashionable I think yes I would, there’s a lot to like about this from the shape of the bottle to the look and aroma and mostly the taste.

Music for this:  ” Marauder by Interpol on the Spotify player .

Marauder is the sixth studio album by American indie rock band Interpol. It was released on August 24, 2018

INDIA PALE ALE & IPA

India Pale Ale gets its name and unique style from British brewers who were making beer for export to India. This style has an intense hop flavor which was used to preserve the beer for the long voyage. India Pale Ale has a golden to copper color with a medium maltiness and body. The aroma is moderate to very strong. IPAs work especially well at cutting the heat of chili, vindaloo or Sichuan cuisine.
