This Halloween Edition mini-series – 4 of the most Spooky beers in a lovely pack.
First up: Epic Brew of the Living Dead.
Epic Brew of the Living Dead is an an IPA of 6.1% Epic Brewing Company (NZ) are based in Auckland, 🇳🇿, New Zealand.
The 330ml can is 1.6 standard drink units in NZ
It has a lovely bright, fresh aroma when you crack the can.
Really pale on the pour with a lovely bright white head that looks really inviting.
A beer that has flavour that pops, it is brisk bitter and really has a lot of things that are jostling and clamouring for attention.
Wasn’t expecting it but there is also a lovely deeper rougher note that waft up adding to the mix, in a really nice way.
As much as I like it though I’m not sure that the hop-mix is in my particular wheelhouse of favourite things
The Pdubyah-o-meter rates this as a 7 on the arbitrary number scale. It’s quite nice but it isn’t quite my thing, and although bright and fresh I can’t get on with it. You just can’t get on with every beer though.
Music . Ed Sheeran – it’s simply called ‘=’
Herevana beers are those I drink at home, I’m not at some beer festival, like, for instance, Beervana, but am just in my kitchen, usually, dining room table, sometimes, or outside, occasionally, where I can take an average picture and write in real time about the beer that I’ve invested in, both in a monetary and emotional way.
Philip himself.
Halloween is fast approaching and to make it extra spooky we decided we would introduce a mixed pack that all the ghosts and ghouls will feast upon. Inside this limited edition mixed pack are four deadly delicious beers that have been conjured up for this special holiday. Along with our infamous Hop Zombie you will find three beers that will make you scream; Count Dankula Hazy, Brew of the Living Dead IPA and 28 Haze Later Hazy. This 4 pack is a sure fire way to get into the spirit of the spooky season.
Brewers Notes
With our obsession for our world famous Hop Zombie Double IPA, we were inspired to make this more dead version of an IPA. Something that when you have tasted and finished will take over your brain and you will be muttering to yourself … Need…More…Hops.
No matter what you do you will never be able to sate your hunger for more hops but maybe just one more taste of the Brew Of The Living Dead will help you for a short moment.
We smashed open the tank and crushed an unnatural amount for green resin oozing hops into this brew. Overloading it with sticky citrus juice flavours from Citra, lemony herbal backbone of Santiam and the ridiculously high alpha bittering hop Pahto, coming in at 22% alpha acid. What’s wrong with your brain?
Everything about this beer just screams “you brewers have lost your minds with the amount of hops you have added”. As brewers all we can say to you is … “RUN!!!”
