A life just as ordinary

Just like you, but different

Herevana – Alice – Green Tea

That’s correct, sometimes it’s not all about beer, sometimes it’s new things. This time it’s about Alice Hard Brewed Tea – The one with Lime and Marigold.

Green Tea Lime and Marigold has an ABV of 5%

A 330ml bottle of alcohol Tea at 5% – making this 1.3 standard drinks in NZ. Alice is a Premium Tea Brewing company based in beautiful Pokeno – just south of the Bombay Hill.

A lovely crisp clean pour of a drink that looks like it could be a cider. Lots of effervescing going on.

There’s a curious aroma on this one, I’m not familiar with what that is but it’s light and fruity. The taste is also interesting, there’s kind of an earthy hint about it. The floral things push through though and make themselves felt.

For me this isn’t as bold as it could be, or it is bold in the wrong places, and I’m not really that comfortable with this particular offering. There’s no apparent sweetness in this, I think those florals and the lime are doing the heavy lifting.

That I’m not comfortable with it doesn’t mean that I don’t appreciate it and what it is, a hard tea. I think the idea is a lovely alternate to a Seltzer, or even a light beer. This is probably the sort of thing that would go well at a picnic or as a sunny day sipper whilst watching the world go by.

The Pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 7 on the arbitrary scale. I don’t think this one is bold in the right places, there are some lovely floral things and notes in this that keep you intrigued but not engaged. I much prefer the Rooibos one to this, and if it was an afternoon drink and there was a choice it’d be that I’d plump for.

Herevana beers are those I drink at home, I’m not at some beer festival, like, for instance, Beervana, but am just in my kitchen, usually, dining room table, sometimes, or outside, occasionally, where I can take an average picture and write in real time about the beer that I’ve invested in, both in a monetary and emotional way.
