The second of the two beers from this brewery that I found locally, this one Green Man Czech Pilsner.
Brewed by Green Man Brewery (NZ) in of course the style that is of Pilsener and they are Dunedin, New Zealand.
500ml bottle that contains 135 calories a serves of a 4.5% ABV beer, and that makes it 1.78 standard drink units in NZ.
This European-style Pilsner is crafted by our German Brewmaster according to the German Purity Law of 1516, using only the finest quality ingredients. Crisp and refreshing, it has citrus and floral flavours from the Hallertau hop, which is very well balanced with the malt.
I’ve been on an adventure tiki tour with MrsPdubyah and s I’m going to wind down with this, and prepare for the watching of the sportsball,
I get a sourish aroma, lightly hopped, on opening.
Pour is golden like you’d expect, and I had to work to get a head, but what there is is fluffy and persistent. Aroma is lightly hoppy.
Taste. Thin. Lacking. Not much of. It appears to have gone AWOL.
There is a meer hint of the hops as bitterness in this, it’s really sharp and really short. But this is little more than lightly flavoured fizzy water and falls short of a mark expected from a Pilsner
The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 4 a of its things from the thing. Long time since I had a below average beer.Nothing ventured nothing gained.
The double dip review
I’ll listen to most music, and this was a recommend, sort of, on twitter, the band Broods, a music duo from Blenheim, New Zealand, this is a track called “Bridges”
It’s essentially soft pop and flighty lyrics that should be more meaningful.
While the definition of “pilsner” is open to much debate in the beer community, it generally refers to pale, hoppy lagers, ranging from 28IBUs and up.
Said this before. I’ll say it again. Sounds like this was an off batch. From the sour smell to the underperformance. Whenever I get something like that from a brewery it really disappoints me. They should respect their customers enough not to put a bad batch out on the market. I don’t care how much money they lose if they have to throw it out.
Good song.
