Just like you, but different
A beer by any other name, a year ago ” Hallertau – Hopocalypse IIIPA 2014” since then they’ve agreed on and sorted out the name, I wouldn’t have been that remiss would I to have got it wrong last time. Anyway same again, same again, same again and same again please.
Could you add anymore hops to one beer
This is a 500ml bottle of a beer that is 14% ABV, 250 IBU things, but that might not be reliable, and that is over 400 calories a serve size, and a whopping 5.52 standard drink units in the bottle.
4 Horsemen of the Hopocalype.
Intergalactic Imperial India Pale Ale. 2015 Edition
Four Horsemen of the Hopocalyse – a collaboration with four of the most hop driven brewers in New Zealand.
Joseph Wood from Liberty Brewing, Steve Plowman from Hallertau, Kelly Ryan and Luke from Epic.

So what could possibly go wrong?
Strong grassy aroma, almsot sticky.
Wasn’t quote expecting the lovely orange colour, thought it might have been more yellow than orange, but for no reason other than I though. Pour was lovely, and a head of significance and persistence. Aroma is less sticky and strong in the glass.
Was not expecting the slam. It is Bitter. Rich, Full, Arid Dry, Boozy, and a real smack to the taste buds.
Not a quaffing beer, not even,
The sheer enjoyment and enthusiasm of the first sip, that first flush, the initial experience suddenly gives way to the realisation that you have to go again. Trepidation.
This is a remarkable beer, whilst it really is bursting at the seams with all the things it is also in the same way quite controlled and measured, with no single thing dominant, it is all singing in unison.
Half way in already, how did that happen? There is a lovely level of sweetness that lingers on the lips. don’t panic about the dryness, it’s transient, just a little more, what can be the harm.
Big effort and a stunning beer, those nice brewers at Epic Beer + Hallertau Brewery + Liberty Brewing Company + Fork and Brewer perhaps though shouldn’t be let out together again, until next year.
The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 10 of its things from the thing. There isn’t anyway that you could begin to measure this against normal beers, but you can measure it against high ABV beers and the way they behave. Mostly they have a higher alcohol astringent part, the boozy bit, this doesn’t have this. Then you’d expect a carnage on the palate of dryness, again this isn’t the case. There is a sweetness and there is just a really decent overall nice drinking-ness about this as a beer, but then it could be the booze-talking. It does however stand alone as a stand out beer.
The double dip review
Music for this, well ” Father John Misty ” has an album ” I Love You, Honeybear ” Joshua Tillman, also known as J. Tillman or Father John Misty, is an American folk singer-songwriter, guitarist, and drummer. I’m listening on Spotify
Imperial IPA, Double IPA or DIPA is a strong, often sweet, intensely hoppy version of the traditional India Pale Ale. Bitterness units range upward of 100 IBUs and alcohol begins at 7.5% but is more commonly in the 8.5-10% range. The flavour profile is intense all-round. Unlike barley wines, the balance is heavily towards the hops, with crystal and other malts providing support.
