Beer club beer, a day late and a story later, this is a beer that might more properly be called the Sunshine Sunrise Project Pipeline Pilsner. Of course.
a shallow bank
5% ABV, and 30IBU things, this 500ml bottle of beer is about
Brewed by Sunshine Brewery in the style this is of a Pilsener and the re in Waikanae Beach, Gisborne, New Zealand
Like a solid groundswell hitting a shallow bank, our Kiwi pilsner combines an old world malt with a selection of New Zealand hops to produce a powerful pulse of flavor.
Named after one of our favorite local surf spots, our Pipeline Pilsner offers a crisp, refreshing lager base that allows the dominant hop flavors of grapefruit and pine to truly shine.
This is the ultimate post-surf lager… Pipeline Pilsner – The greenroom of beers!!!
So, What could possibly go wrong? Well “The greenroom” of beers (that’ a surfer reference) and a pretty big sell, so this is either going to be the bestest pilsner ever or a pipe dream (See what I did there ?).
There’s a lot of hops in that, it’s a cracker of an aroma on opening, very nice.
Hazy yellow kind of pour wit ha film of head and not a lot more, very strong raw hop aroma in the glass too, which is pleasing.
That’s a lovely bite of hop on first sup. lovely oily feel too, odd way to describe it, but that’s what it seems like.
Certainly a lot of hop flavour has been crammed into this, and why should I have doubted that this would be the case?
Lovely aroma that wafts up as you sup this too, so you get a small ht of that hop oil aroma and you then get a sip and the hop bite to match, which is something I quite like.
The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 9 of its things from the thing. Glorious aroma, lovely bite to go with it, smooth not edgy, refreshing and with a lovely overall taste.
The double dip review
Music for this: ” Cold Mailman ” and ” Everything Aflutter” on Spotify
Cold Mailman is a Norwegian indie pop band, originally from Bodø, currently based in Oslo
While the definition of “pilsner” is open to much debate in the beer community, it generally refers to pale, hoppy lagers, ranging from 28 IBUs and up.
