A beer called Keith, what a hoot!
Don’t hold his country of origin against him
This is a 440ml can of a beer that is at 6% ABV and 180 calories a serve size, so that would be about 2.08 standard drink units in NZ.
ParrotDog Hazy IPA Keith is Brewed by ParrotDog this on in the style that is an IPA – Hazy / New England and they do that in Wellington.
Hazy IPA brewed with American Hops
Keith is one part of Parrotdog’s new Hazy IPA duo.
Keith is a big, in your face juicy American with Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo hops.
Don’t hold his country of origin against Keith, he is a sharp wee number
So, What could possibly go wrong?
I got to side two of the album before I opened it, there are 3 more sides to go.
The beer pours hazy dull orange, without much of a head, so it looks kind of muddy. It surprises in that it is slightly bitterer than I was really expecting.
But then it has quite a nice soft mouthfeel and flavour set that invites you to drink more in larger sips than you want to, with a fresh juiciness that makes you smile.
For me this isn’t a big beer, nor is it in your face, it’s all quite subdued and low-key suburban, like you’d expect from a Keith.
The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 8 of its things from the thing. It is nice. It isn’t Big. It is juicy. Pleasant enough with just enough background bitterness this however does not kick on and become the beer I wanted it to be.
The double dip review
Music for this: ”The Song Remains The Same by Led Zeppelin on 1976 original vinyl. An absolute brilliance. When released in 1976, the album received some poor reviews, with a number of critics considering it to be over-produced and lumbering.
