That’s right, a proper beer festival beer pack for my Herevana experience. Herevana, a beer festival at my place.
Because they’re in a list that I might or might not follow I started with the Sours, and then I thought lagers and then the Pale and IPA’s. Let the Saturday session start then 🙂
Emerson’s Brewing Company (Lion Co. – Kirin Holdings) make the Emerson’s Hell Yeah! and they do that 🇳🇿 Dunedin, New Zealand and it’s in the style that is a Helles / Dortmunder Export at 4.9% ABV, this is 1.3 stadnard drink
Emerson’s Hell Yeah! Helles Lager – This is a can do can. Fizzing with optimism and spicy German hops. A light bright refreshing lager with a refreshingly positive attitude. Should you drink it? Hell yeah!
There’s a handy chart on the label that tells me that this is middling hoppy, light in colour and more sweet than bitter. So that’s good.
Aroma is that familiar malt and yeast from the style, the pour is very light coloured beer, nice bright gold, with a head that settles to just enough of a film to be present.
The taste is somewhat of a Euro-lager derivative, I’m trying to pick what in this might be of a festival performance and display of art and craft. I’m struggling, as I am with my music choice, some things need not be covered or imitated.
Look I get this is lovely as the style, it is crisp, clean, and offers no pain or pustule points in the crate profile, but I’m a bit miffed by this and for me a bit controversial.
The Pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 7 on the arbitrary number scale. I don’t really see the merits of this in a festival celebration pack as a beer. I see the merits of this as a lovely and delightful example of a beer of the Helles style, and I like the style for the simple delivery of taste and flavour.
I’m listening to a playlist called Indie Covers on the Spotify player, think of it as takes on a style :-), then think that sometimes you shouldn’t have done that.
The Top 8
1. Behemoth – Just a Little Slice
2. Duncan’s Boysenberry and Chocolate Ripple
3. Emerson’s Hell Yeah!
The GABS Invitational pack brings you a true “Craft Beer Summer in a Box” and features eight carefully curated craft beers that won’t be found anywhere else including Just A Little Slice Cheesecake Sour from Behemoth, Double Boysenberry & Chocolate Ripple Sour from Duncan’s, Mos Definitely Hazy Mosaic IPA from Funk Estate, Luz Grapefruit Brut IPA from Urbanaut, Aotearoa IPA Series #17 Hazy Riwaka from Sawmill, Zenith Hazy IPA from Deep Creek, Welcome to Tijuana Lime Lager from 8 Wired and Hell Yeah! Helles Lager from Emerson’s.
Herevana beers are those I drink at home, I’m not at some beer festival, like, for instance, Beervana, but am just in my kitchen, usually, dining room table, sometimes, or outside, occasionally, where I can take an average picture and write in real time about the beer that I’ve invested in, both in a monetary and emotional way.
