Tall beer, Tall bands, high numbers, and hi!
Big balanced and flavourful IPA.
From the FYO station the keg version of the beer that is also available in bottles, is 6.5% ABV, and of course 65 IBU, but this bottle is only 5.13 standard drink units and oh it is 195 calories a serve size, some symmetry there though. I like that.
Brewed by Behemoth Brewing Company in the style that is : India Pale Ale (IPA) and they are in Auckland, New Zealand
This India Pale Ale is inspired by big flavourful American IPAs but with a Kiwi twist.
Tropical, citrus, floral, pine and floral flavours jump out of the glass at you
So what could possibly go wrong?
Grass hop burst on flipping that lid, smells sweet too.
Slightly paler than I thought, despite having it in a glass bottle that is see through.
Pour though a lovely golden brown, with a lovely finger of white head. Soft aroma in the glass.
Grassy mouthfeel of a seemingly bitter bitter beer that has a lot of pine and citrus notes in it too. Lemony almost. 65 though is low for an IPA, and this isn’t bitter bitter, it’s just nice, polite, unobtrusive.
I thought that the finish was interrupted by the carbonation in this, but I really like the linger in the mouth that this has.
Tangerines too.
Now then, 6 foot 5 might lead to to think that this is a big beer. Except that it refers to the tallness of the brewer, who most people look up to. I wish it was a bigger IPA.
Second stanza. Lovely pour with a bigger head as I gave it the large. Aroma has a more wet grass thing about it. This is a very stable and steady drinking beer, with no real discernible taste change as it warms up as I move about the house and do other things between sentences. Which is when I found that I’d drunk the most of it and there was scant amount left. Sometimes that’s the way to goes.
The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 8 of its things from the thing. This is a nice thing to drink, but I think it is a bit safe. Nothing wrong with safe though.
The double dip review
Music for this ” Devarrow ” and ” The Great Escape ” which is on the Spotify of course. Devarrow is the stage-name of Graham Ereaux, a Canadian singer-songwriter originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. This would be ‘ Little Arrow ‘
India Pale Ale gets its name and unique style from British brewers who were making beer for export to India. This style has an intense hop flavor which was used to preserve the beer for the long voyage. India Pale Ale has a golden to copper color with a medium maltiness and body. The aroma is moderate to very strong. IPAs work especially well at cutting the heat of chili, vindaloo or Sichuan cuisine.
