A life just as ordinary

Just like you, but different

Beer – #1,074 – Alibi – APA

Alibi APA – Idaho7, Simcoe + Mosaic. Bubbles in my bubble.  I managed to get this before the isolation period started, and I’ve been looking forward to it.  But, you say, a beer on a work night?, normally no, but this is not a normal night. Pretty sure that this is a keg only beer, so again a beer that it’s in wide distribution but these are strange days.

Swedish fish

This is a take-out rigger that’s 1.25 litres large, a beer that is 5.5% ABV making this about 165 calories per can size 355ml

Alibi APA is brewed in 🇳🇿 Onetangi, New Zealand as a  Pale Ale – American / APA  type beer

FISH !

Aromas of Swedish fish*, candied orange peel, sun sweetened apricots and that kushykush tangerine dream.

Pine bitterness wraps this up and seals the deal.

*Swedish Fish is a fish-shaped, chewy candy originally developed by Swedish candy producer Malaco in the late 1950s

So, What could possibly go wrong?

Despite everthing this opens with a handy a excited hiss, letting north an outstanding aroma of tropical sweetness, Orange and the like (that’d be the Tangerine Phil).

The pour is pale golden with a head of sorts, but at least it’s sitting there, patient like. The aroma is strong in this.

Well it has that really nice level of bitterness, that notch up from normal and a level below the squint, and it is very flavourful to drink, refreshing if you will.

The dryness I’m going to fancifully put to being like the pith of the citrus fruits, because I’m not an expert in these things, but again it’s at a lovely level between dry and parched. It is very nice.

Despite my enthusiasm and will this really isn’t an ‘outstanding beer’ it’s a beer that’s well made with some nice things about it, but I think that it is a safe beer, and I applaud that, you can’t go too far from the middle.

I do think it’s a really nice beer and it is in front of the similars and the pack, it’s crisp, clean, has that tangerine thing golf on and a bit of a hint of a dryness, a beer that should I see it on tap in a bar I’d be happy to buy and enjoy over others.

Also, either this is better than I thought since it’s nearly all gone by the time I got this far into writing about it, it’s that slight sweetness, it gives it that moorish.

The pdubyah-o-meter rates this as 8 of its things from the thing. This is easy drinking and beer that I’d be happy to sit on all night and enjoy, It starts well and stays well, I think it’d go with with pretty much all the foods, particularly the cheese that I don’t have 😦

The double dip review

  • Where did I get it? The local Liquorland of course.
  • Am I enjoying it? Yes it’s very nice.
  • Would I have another? I would and will if I see it about again
  • Would I share with a friend on a porch and set the world to rights? Probably, this is quite inoffensive to a beer drinker, and quite interesting if you like beers as it’s got flavours and  hints that you don’t normally get with such clarity.

AMERICAN PALE ALE

American Pale Ales are light in color, ranging from golden to a light copper color. The style of this beer is defined by the American hops used. American hops typically have high bitterness and aroma. This is a perfect beer for big fare like grilled burgers or combination pizzas, as well as lighter fare like sushi and green salads

Phil, I hope Liquorland stays open for you and you are surviving well with months of supply. This is the ‘rainy day’.
